Barabhaig B & B

bed and breakfast by the shore at Camuscross Bay, on the Isle of Skye

Barabhaig, built in the traditional Highland style, is the comfortable family home of David Collins & Emma Siedle-Collins offering a warm welcome in a superb position. We are right by the shore of Camuscross Bay, on Sleat, the southern peninsula of Skye, also known as the Garden of Skye and we have wonderful views across the Sound of Sleat to Sandaig and Beinn Sgritheall on the mainland. As well as the beach in front of the house there is a ‘flat’ walk along the road around the bay and on to the Isle Ornsay bar (!) - for the more adventurous, there are tracks along the wild unpopulated coastline beyond the house towards the ruined Cnoc Castle with views east to Knoydart and south towards Mallaig and Ardnamurchan.

The spectacular loop road through Ord and Tarskavaig is just a few miles to the south of us, as is Armadale Castle. Further south the road ends at Aird where the path to the Point of Sleat begins with great views to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rum. Ten miles to the north of Camuscross is the village of Broadford and the road to Torrin, past the eastern cliffs of Bla Bheinn and on to Elgol where you can take a boat across Loch Scavaig to the foot of the Black Cuillin ridge and walk up the short path to the magnificant Loch Coruisk.

Guests can also see Emma’s mixed media, textile and printmaking work – including wall hangings, collage, jewellery and handmade cards.

We have two double rooms, both at the front of the house looking out over the bay - the larger room has an en suite bathroom (no shower) and the other a separate private bathroom (no shower); the rooms each have TV, wifi and tea & coffee making facilities. A full cooked breakfast is served in our dining room, with French windows overlooking the garden and the bay.

The Isle Ornsay (or in Gaelic, Eilean Iarmain) Hotel with it’s restaurant and lively bar is just over a mile away, and the restaurants of the Duisdale House Hotel and the Michelin starred Kinloch Lodge Hotel are a few miles north of us.

We are open from Easter until October and our charges for 2016 are £75.00 per night for the en suite room and £55.00 per night for the room with the private bathroom which includes breakfast. There is a £10 reduction for a single occupancy.
